Dick got the vintage car bug while heading down to Jesse James Days in Northfield, MN in 2004. While on his way down he came across a car for sale on the side of the road. A 1947 Ford and it wasn't long before that car made its way to the shop.
The location of the Hot Rod Shop was once a garbage truck garage, Dick's Sanitation. Which has been a family run business since 1966! With family members getting more involved over the years with the day to day operations, Dick found himself with more free time. The Hot Rod Shop is not only a one stop repair/restoration shop. It also has a state of the art paint facility that it shares with Korba's Auto Body.
With that '47 Ford in the shop that he bought along the side of the road. One of Dick's mechanics from DSI would work part time in the shop working on garbage trucks and part time work on the hotrods. It took 6 months to restore that '47 Ford!
Dick then became a member of a local car club, the Southern Cruisers. After getting more involved with helping others work on and restore their own cars and 2 years after restoring that '47 Ford, Dick's Hot Rod Shop was opened!
Since the first car was restored back in 2004. Several
cars have been added to Dick's collection. A 1929 Chevy
4 Door Sedan, 1956 Ford Pick-Up, 1956 Oldsmobile
(which is currently being restored) and of coarse that
1947 Ford.
